The flakes of dead skin cells scattered on your shoulders is a sure tell-tell sign of the annoying condition of dandruff. You comb and brush your hair, wipe the dandruff off of your clothing, and sure enough you will be doing that all day. Many times to worsen this annoying condition, you suffer from an itchy scalp as well. You search for the latest dandruff shampoo that promises to rid your hair of this problem. But that shampoo does not exist. How could it?

Product manufacturers would go bankrupt if they created something that permanently solved the problem. Repeat purchase keeps them in business so it’s not in their best interest financially to clear the dandruff permanently. Let’s not forget the mounds of medicated hair greases and oils that we purchase and add to our hair to cover up the dry flakiness of dandruff to avoid shampooing our hair on end. Shampooing OUR hair daily because of dandruff is not an option.

Dandruff may worsen during the fall and winter months and improve during the summer. There are many types of dandruff. Most cases are not serious and do not require medical attention. However, if symptoms of dandruff persists for several weeks after using dandruff shampoos, or if the conditions worsens causing scalp irritation, please see a physician. You may be suffering from a condition known as seborrheic dermatitis which must be treated by a physician.

With essential oils, you can get to the root of the problem and rid yourself of this horrible and embarrassing problem. Essential oils such as rosemary, lemon, lime, birch, basil, thyme, pimento berry, cypress, lavender, eucalyptus peppermint, sage and carrot. Vegetable oils used to treat dandruff are evening primrose, borage, and jojoba.

These oils can be added to your shampoos and conditioners or you can create your own shampoos and rinses. Mixing your own shampoos takes away the need to buy shampoos with harsh chemicals that make this condition worse or may even be the reason for its onset.
